A Conservationist's Guide to Maine Government

Ever faced an environmental problem and wondered about state law and who enforces it? Ever thought about a law or policy that ought to be changed? Want to preserve special land nearby and need to know more about the Land for Maine's Future program?

We have recently published a useful resource for you! Our book, A Conservationist's Guide to Maine Government, is meant to help individuals and organizations who are concerned with protecting our natural resources. The Guide gives you the tools to influence public policy in Maine by:

* detailing how public policy is made & enforced.
* outlining the agencies of gov't with authority over our natural resources.
* outlining the citizen boards that advise these agencies.
* listing the various org.'s working to protect our environment.

Unsafe levels of toxic chemicals mean that no fish should be eaten from Green Pond, Chapman Pit, & Greenlaw Brook (Limestone), Little Madawaska River & tributaries(Madwaska Dam to Grimes Mill Road), and the Kennebec River from Augusta to the Chops. Comsuming fish from these bodies of water may have dangerous effects on the human body.
